Celebrating a 5th Birthday at the State Fair of Texas

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our day at the State Fair! As you can see...Corbin & Gage had a blast!!!

(not a favorite shot...but you can't leave a pic of Big Tex out of State Fair pics-right?)

A little nervous...

(a little blurry...but Gage looks so flippin cute)

The "lego lady" asked everyone to build something with blue blocks, then went around with a microphone and asked each kid what they built...can you guess what Corbin built?

Fried Snickers...definitely my son!

Happy Birthday Corbin!

Stay tuned for party pictures...

UNBELIEVABLE

I can not believe that in less than a year's time, I went from MISS...to MRS...to MOTHER of Corbin Michael.

I can't believe that I survived Corbin's 1st year. Lil Man suffered from colic and a short fuse if he wasn't held and/or entertained AT ALL TIMES!

I can't believe how well a 2 year old handled the transition from only child to big brother, and amazed by the special bond that these two boys share.

I can't believe how independent, wise, creative, energetic, and sweet this little boy is at such a young age.

I can't believe how much Corbin has grown...and how quickly he changes. It seems like yesterday that he was running into the living room screaming "ELMO WOO-LD! ELMO WOO-LD!" the minute the theme song to Elmo's World would come on the TV...and now only wants to watch jedi-knights, superheroes, or "Army" shows.

I can't believe that my first baby boy will be 5 years old at 8:01am, tomorrow morning.

I can't believe how UNBELIEVABLE the past five years have been as your mom.

Happy Birthday Torby! I love you.

XOXOX,
Mom

Seriously?!?

THINGS I NEED TO REMEMBER:

1) The FluMist stinks. Next time do not give the boys the option between the nasal mist or the shot...nurse told me that side effects of the mist were runny nose, and sore throat...for a couple days. (it has been a week now) Lil Man Gage has a runny nose, horrible cough and is in the WORST mood ever. (don't worry...no fever) Called nurse today and they said keep an eye on him for signs of ear infections and fever, but she just thinks it could be allergies. (whatever)

2) When working in PhotoShop, make sure you start with the correct size of photo. After spending 3 hours on the above invitation...I tried to get them printed and half the invite had been cropped off! Created a different invitation and they were sent out on Tuesday.

3) I need to learn now how to teach a lesson before I actually have "real" students. I had to play teacher this week at school and I had my class of pretend 5th graders (but really college students) create an alphabet book using information about the 50 states. Told them what I wanted and showed them the (above) examples....and this is what I got!!!!(below examples)

My Lil' Bruiser

We had a soccer game today and I decided that I would try to get some pics. The weather was getting pretty icky by game time, we got rained on a bit...and we played a pretty good team...one that knew the term "Defense" way better than our team. My lil' Bruiser did awesome as usual! :)

I bet you can't pick out Corbin from the lineup.

My soccer team...minus one little boy who couldn't make it.

GOAL!! GO CORBIN!

This was the first game we lost this season due to:
1. Other team was much more defensive. (Seriously...they had drill sergeants for coaches.)
2. Star player was dealing with allergies. (Corbin got the flumist a couple days ago and his allergies were acting up)
3. It started drizzling and that was much more interesting than soccer.
4. Game was much later in the day than our first couple games.
2 wins 1 loss...
Go Bruisers!

Almost Back to Normal!

Computer is working! Well actually, it's been working, but I haven't had the chance to blog! Finished school work early since we have a busy weekend, and the boys are outside enjoying the pretty weather!
*Things you missed (and probably don't care about):
1) Gage and Corbin got their flu vaccine. No shot...just the FluMist. Not one negative side effect! Woo hoo! With the craziness of the flu and both me and the boys going to school...I didn't want to chance it...even though I hate the stupid flu vaccine.
2) My soccer team is undefeated....thanks to my lil' soccer star, Corbin! He makes the majority of the goals and at the last game...I lost count around 10...
3) Gagey almost knows every word of "Tonight's going to be a good night" by the Black Eyed Peas.
4) Boys decided to be Lil' Devils for Halloween and mommy can't find a proper costume that is neither babyish or evil.
5) Wednesday mornings, I take the stairs to get to my reading class because of the insane line for the elevators. My OCD tendencies led me to counting them one day and it was 202 steps ONE WAY!
6) Learning how to become an effective teacher....from one of the most ineffective teachers I've ever had. (Very thankful that my teacher friends/family tell me that nothing I learn in school is relevant to actual teaching.)
7) Planning Corbin's 5th Birthday...finally finished the invites, picked the location and can't wait to celebrate the momentous occasion! (A hint for the theme of the party: COWABUNGA!)
Anyway...got to go get the boys dinner. They are throwing rocks at the window!
Stay tuned.

Technical Difficulties...

Seriously...what next? I have been so stressed out and overwhelmed since school began this semester...and then even more stressed out doing my first paper for a really hard class, only to be followed by another paper for another class right after that I forgot about until last minute. (only good thing about that is that it was writing my philosophy of ed for my portfolio which I had already done for a previous class and kept it, only having to make minor revisions)

Anyway, to my point of writing...I have two papers due this week, one that I had to turn in today before class...and I wake up this morning to find that my computer had crashed! I got my first real panic attack (hopefully my last one) and completely flipped my lid wondering how I was going to be able to rewrite a paper I wrote at least a year ago...and another one that took me a solid week to write! (and don't forget the being a boyMOM and soccer coach on top of that)

Michael came home super early to see what he could do...and saved the day! He got BOTH of my papers off the computer. (one was saved on the backup thingy that saves things every 2 days, but the paper I had wrote the night before wasn't on there...yet he found a way to get that one back to!!) I seriously don't know crap about computers, so I'm so happy that he knows so much! Crisis diverted about school. I didn't even think at the time either that EVERY picture since the operating room of my c-section with Corbin is on the computer...instead of a panic attack, I probably would have had a heart attack. Everything is fine though...thanks to that backup thingy.

As for the computer...and obscenely long blog post (sorry)...we have lost every program and everything that was on the computer. Until the situation gets fixed...I won't be able to post pics and things. :(

Our Busy Weekend!

We had such a busy weekend! Saturday we started our soccer season...a week late due to rain, but it was an awesome first game!!! As a coach I was pretty happy with the results...as a mom I was SUPER proud! My lil man made the first soccer goal and then continued making goal after goal. According to Michael, Corbin made 4 out of our 7 goals! ( I was way too busy screaming things like....wrong way! STOP! and Kick it!) We ended up winning our first game!! Considering I had a bunch of kids at practice that didnt' want to play soccer...I think that is an accomplishment! :) ...this is the shirt I made for game days for myself! There was no way I was going to wear a soccer jersey to match the boys. :)

Right after the game, we headed to Georgetown, TX for Michael's cousin, Kristi's, wedding. I was lazy and didn't want to bring my new camera...so I took just a couple pics with my old camera. Not that interesting...but here are a few pics from the wedding. If you are wondering what the kids are so amazed with...they ALL had went hunting for snails around the historical house of the wedding/reception. They were keeping them on a table and making a little (nasty) collection. Before we left the reception, Corbin said, "Mommy, my hands smell like poop." I guess snails stink and I guess that he thought I was just kidding when I told him not to touch them.

This picture explains how all the kids felt about me taking pictures. Notice I didn't get one of Gage looking at the camera. The ONLY one I got was extremely blurry, but he had the same expression that Corbin does in the above picture.

Stay tuned.
